CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Coming off a stellar junior season, UNI diver Erica Peters will compete in the NCAA Diving Zones on Tuesday afternoon in Iowa City in the one-meter springboard competition beginning at 12 p.m. CT. Live results can be online through Dive Meets with a live stream also available.
An Ankeny, Iowa native, Peters qualified for this year's NCAA Zones meet by posting a career-best score of 269.95 in one-meter competition at Northern Iowa's dual meet at Iowa State in January. Ranking seventh in team history in one-meter competition (269.95), she is one of 58 athletes who qualified for the one-meter competition by virtue of scoring a minimum qualifying standing of 265 points. UNI has sent at least one diver to the NCAA Zones in each of the past four seasons.
Peters posted a strong showing at the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championships last week in Waukee, where she finished tenth overall on the one-meter boards, while also taking sixth in the A-Final of the three-meter competition. Her strong performances on both boards were a key in UNI's drivers scoring critical team points towards the Panthers' fourth-place team finish at the MVC Championships, and helping coach Bethany Hovland be named MVC Co-Diving Coach of the Year.
Named the MVC Diver of the Week in early February and UNI's winter recipient of the MVC State Farm Good Neighbor Award, Peters notably won the one-meter competition at the Huskies (Coyotes) Invite in November (249.45), as well as second in one-meter action vs. Illinois State (249.95) and at the Omaha Diving Invite (251.55).
