NORMAL, Ill. — The UNI women's tennis team battled through a competitive matchup but fell to Illinois State, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers secured a hard-fought singles win but were unable to claim the doubles point as Illinois State controlled key moments throughout the match.

In singles play, Kim Zizek delivered an impressive performance, securing UNI's lone point with a straight-set victory over Emma Lindh, 6-3, 6-3. Andjela Raznatovic fought through a tightly contested match at number four in singles, pushing the second set to a tiebreaker before ultimately falling, 6-2, 6-7, 10-3.

Darta Daleka, Lorena Cardoso, Abbie Peterson, and Lasya Mylavarapu competed hard in their matches but came up short. Dalecka fell to Silvia Pomarolli 6-1, 6-3, while Cardoso battled against Lana Caculovic before dropping a 6-4, 6-2 decision. Peterson and Mylavarapu faced tough opponents, with Peterson falling 6-2, 6-0 to Elena Jankulovska and Mylavarapu dropping a 6-0, 6-1 match to Nicole Losio.

In doubles action, UNI's number two duo of Zizek and Raznatovic claimed a 6-4 victory over Lindh and Jankulovska. However, the Panthers were unable to secure the doubles point, as the number one pair of Dalecka and Cardoso fell in a tiebreaker, 7-6, while the number three duo of Mylavarapu and Peterson dropped a 6-1 decision to Sanz and Losio.
