Addison McElrath named MVC Player of the Week

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) announced its weekly awards on Tuesday afternoon and UNI softball designated player Addison McElrath was named the Valley's Player of the Week.
The first weekly honor of her career, McElrath finished the Panthers' 2025 Doc Halverson Classic five-game weekend with four runs on eight hits in 14 plate appearances for a .571 average. The Moville, Iowa native recorded three homeruns over the weekend and finished with seven RBIs including a two-homerun game in a 13-10 loss to rv Omaha Friday. McElrath was 4-for-9 (.444) with runners in scoring position and 2-for-3 (.667) with two outs.
UNI softball continues the 2025 season on February 19 when the Panthers take on the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky at Gertrude Hood Field in Richmond, Kentucky. The matchup opens a 24-game stretch of games all away from Cedar Falls before the Panthers open the home portion of the season at Robinson-Dresser Sports Complex on March 28 against Bradley.
