Schaffer lead Panther women in collegiate cross country debut at Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa — The UNI women's cross country team returned to action Saturday morning, participating in the annual Dan Huston Invite at Wartburg College, finishing fifth in the six-kilometer race out of 15 teams.
Liza Schaffer, making her collegiate cross country debut, led the Panthers, placing seventh individually with a time of 22:53. Sarah Feddersen (Ames, Iowa/Gilbert HS) took home 11th place with another strong performance in 23:02, followed by Brooke O'Brien in 14th in a time of 23:09.
Rounding out the Panthers in 39th place was Kayla Young (24:33), followed by Kaylin Lacher in 62nd, who clocked a career-best 6K time of 25:06.

The Panthers travel to Peoria, Illinois, on Oct. 17 for the Bradley Pink Classic at Newman Golf Course.
