CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) season rolls on for the UNI men's basketball team as the Panthers prepare to host the Murray State Racers on Wednesday night inside the McLeod Center.

The Panthers hold a narrow 2-1 all-time lead on the Racers in the short series having split last year's two regular season meetings. UNI picked up a ten point win on the road last January in Kentucky against the Racers, while Murray State outshot the Panthers a month later in Cedar Falls.
UNI, which has won six of its last eight games, looks to ride a hot shooting hand, ranking second in all of Division I with a 51.6% shooting clip. UNI is also 13th nationally in effective field goal percentage (58.1%). Northern Iowa has shot over 50% in eight of its 15 games this year.
The Panthers, tied with Indiana State for second in the MVC standings, will look to bounce back and keep pace with the first-place Bradley Braves in the standings after an 80-73 road loss at Valparaiso last Saturday. UNI won the rebounding battle against the Beacons, but were plagued by 14 turnovers, which led to 16 Valparaiso points. Despite a career day from senior forward Tytan Anderson, the Panthers were unable to close a lead which the Beacons held for the majority of the game.
Anderson finished the afternoon setting new career-highs in points scored (27) and made free throws (9), while also pulling down nine rebounds. Max Weisbrod tallied ten points on four-of-seven shooting as Leon Bond III posted nine points, four rebounds and notched his third multi-block game of the season. Will Hornseth finished with seven points as Redek Born and Trey Campbell each scored five points.
Anderson, the MVC's leader in made free throws (68) and attempts (97) who looks to climb the program's top-ten all-time steals list, leads UNI with 14.7 points per game and a team-high 6.3 rebounds a game on 57.5% shooting. Jacob Hutson, who is just four points shy of surpassing 500 points in his Panther career with five games of 20+ points this year, has notched 12.5 points and 3.6 rebounds.
Bond has posted 11.7 points per game with a 59.8% shooting clip, as Campbell leads Northern Iowa with a team-high 49 assists on the year and 9.9 points. Having started the last seven games, Ben Schwieger has recorded 9.3 points with 4.2 rebounds on 48% shooting, with Hornseth shooting 35-of-45 on the year (77.8%).
SCOUTING MURRAY STATE
The Racers wrap up a two-game road swing through Iowa as it visits Cedar Falls after upsetting Drake on Sunday in Des Moines. Murray State is among seven MVC teams who have split its first four league games.
Murray State was picked to finish third with one first-place vote in this year's MVC preseason poll, with guard JaCobi Wood earning preseason first team honors and forward Nick Ellington being named preseason second team all-conference.
Led by head coach Steve Prohm, who is in the third year of his second stint with the Racers after a six-year run at Iowa State, Murray State leads the MVC and ranks 18th nationally with 25.2 free throw attempts per game. The Racers also boast the league's best three-point defense at just 29.2%.
JaCobi Wood leads MSU with 13.7 points a game with Kylen Milton averaging 13.1 points. Terence Harcum and AJ Ferguson also average over 12 points per game with Ferguson leading the Racers with 5.3 rebounds a game.
