UNI falls to Air Force at first home dual of the season

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI women's tennis team battled Air Force in their first home dual of the season but came up short in a 6-1 defeat on Friday. Despite the team loss, Abbie Peterson secured a hard-fought victory in singles play.
In singles action, Abbie Peterson picked up a big win over Joselyn Limbago in the number six spot, 6-3, 3-6, 13-11. However, Darta Dalecka dropped her first set by a 6-2 score, and 6-4 in the second for a loss to Alexis Kojonroj. Andjela Razmayovic was also unable to defeat her opponent, dropping both sets to Giovanna Sachirico 6-2, 6-4.
Lorena Cardoso was swept in her opening set with a 6-3 loss in set two to Nadia Kojonroj. Kanyanut Sudsaard competed in two tough sets against Maya Michalski but lost in both sets, 6-1,6-2. Meanwhile, Kim Zizek was swept in both of her matches, 6-0, to Van Houweling.
In doubles action, the number one duo, Delecka/Cardoso, faced Houweling/Kojonroj but were unable to complete their match before Air Force secured the doubles point. Zizek/Kanyanut fell 6-0 to Odom/Michalski, while Peterson and Mylavarapu put points but ultimately dropped their match 6-2 to Limbago and Giovanna.

The Panthers will face Creighton on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. CT, as well as Gustavus Adolphus on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT in Waterloo at the Black Hawk Tennis Club.
