DEKALB, Ill. — The UNI women's tennis team dropped their second dual of the season on Sunday as it fell to the Eastern Illinois Panthers in a non-conference dual on the Northern Illinois University campus in DeKalb by a score of 4-3.

Eastern Illinois would take two of the three doubles matches from Northern Iowa, with the team of Abbie Peterson and Laysa Mylavarapu defeating Charleigh Fay/Emma Pilipovic-Kljajic by a score of 7-5. Aleyla Wooten/Michelle Kostadinova defeated Darta Dalecka/Lorena Cardoso by a 7-5 score, while Kim Zizek and Kanyanut Sudsaard also fell to Ornella Lomenzo/Luisa Renovales-Salazar, 6-4.

In singles action, Dalecka held off Lomenzo in the number one match for a 7-5, 6-3 win, with both Peterson and Mylavara earning wins via forfeit. Cardoso dropped her first set by a 6-0 score, and 6-2 in a loss to Fay, while Kim Zizek also was swept in her opening set with a 6-3 loss in set two to Renovales-Salazar.

UP NEXT
The Panthers return home for a three-dual weekend beginning Friday, Feb. 2 against Air Force at 11 a.m. CT at the Black Hawk Tennis Center in Waterloo. Northern Iowa will also host Creighton on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. CT, as well as Gustavus Adolphus on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT in Waterloo.
