
UNI student-athletes continue academic success during fall 2024 term

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI Panther student-athletes posted another impressive semester during the fall 2024 term surpassing department goals in showing growth in individual team academic performance.
The fall semester saw nine of UNI's 15 teams record a semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher, including 13 over 3.40. Collectively, Panther student-athletes posted a semester GPA of 3.40 and a cumulative of 3.39, both surpassing the metrics laid out in the athletic department's strategic plan.
"I am incredibly proud of our student-athletes who exemplify the power of dedication by excelling in the classroom and in their sport each semester," said Andrea Greve Coello, UNI's Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development. "Their hard work is a testament to their character and commitment to success in all aspects of life."
UNI's volleyball team led all Panther programs with the highest term GPA with a 3.83. The men's basketball program recorded the highest term GPA (3.49), while men's cross country recorded the most improved term GPA from the fall 2023 semester with a 0.39 boost to a 3.48 GPA this past term.
Individually, 333 of UNI's 429 student-athletes (77%) registered a semester GPA of 3.00 or higher this spring, with 55% coming in at 3.50 or higher. Cumulatively, 78.5% of Panthers maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better, with 50% of the department over 3.50.
