CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI women's basketball program announced the hiring of Deidra Johnson to the Panther coaching staff as the Director of Operations and Player Development. Johnson comes to the Panthers after spending three years as the Associate Head Coach of the Indiana State women's basketball team including acting as the interim head coach for the 2023-24 season starting in December.
"Deidra comes to us with a wealth of experience at all levels," said head coach Tanya Warren. "She is high energy, a relentless worker, extremely knowledgeable & a tremendous teacher of the game. We are beyond thrilled to have Deidra become a part of our Panther family."
Johnson will oversee player development, team travel, academics, and equipment while also assisting with scouting, recruiting, and all facets of practice.
"To have the opportunity to join a program that has such a rich tradition and history of excellence on and off the court is a blessing for me," said Johnson. "I count it all joy to have the opportunity to learn, grow, and WIN with this amazing staff and young women that represent Panther Nation. Tanya has become one of my mentors and even more important one of my friends and I look forward to doing whatever is needed of me to help aid in achieving the goal of bringing home a championship!"
Johnson will be entering her 17th season at the collegiate level and 18th overall.
