Panther soccer unveils schedule for 25th anniversary season

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI soccer team announced its 17-match schedule for its 25th anniversary season on Tuesday. This year's slate includes seven non-conference contests and ten Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) matchups, as well as ten home matches on the UNI Soccer Field.

Northern Iowa will take on North Dakota in a preseason exhibition on Aug. 4 in West St. Paul, Minnesota before opening the regular season on Aug. 15 against South Dakota at home. After hosting Western Illinois (Aug. 18) and visiting in-state rival Iowa State (Aug. 25), the Panthers will host three straight matches with visits from St. Ambrose (Aug. 28), Upper Iowa (Sept. 1) and St. Thomas (Sept. 6). UNI will hit the road to close out the non-conference portion of the schedule with its first ever trip to UT Martin on Sept. 8, followed by a trip to Omaha to face the Mavericks on Sept. 15.

MVC play will kick off on Sept. 19 with a road trip to UIC on Sept. 19, setting up back-to-back home match ups with Missouri State (Sept. 22) and the reigning conference tournament champion Valparaiso Beacons (Sept. 29) in a rematch of last year's MVC Tournament quarterfinal.

The Panthers hit the road again for a pair of matchups in Indiana where they will take on the Evansville Purple Aces on Oct. 3 followed by a Saturday matchup against the Indiana State Sycamores (Oct. 6). A short stint at home will see UNI take on Belmont on Oct. 10 before visiting Southern Illinois on Oct. 13.

Northern Iowa will close out the regular season with two of its final three matches at home, beginning with a showdown with the defending MVC regular season champion Drake Bulldogs at home on Oct. 20, as the home finale slated for Oct. 24 against Murray State. UNI will finish the season on the road at Illinois State on Oct. 28.

The 2024 MVC Tournament is scheduled to begin on Oct. 31 and run through Nov. 10 with the league's top-two team receiving byes into the semifinal round. First and quarterfinal rounds will be hosted on campus sites on Oct. 31 and Nov. 3, with the semifinals and championship matches set to be hosted by the regular season champion, Nov. 7 and 10.
