After two seasons at Kirkwood Community College, UNI women’s basketball signs forward Kaylee Corbin.
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI women's basketball team announced on Friday morning the signing of Kirkwood Community College forward Kaylee Corbin to the 2024-25 roster.
A native of Letts, Iowa, the 6-1 junior capped off her career at Kirkwood with an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) All-Region second-team performance. Corbin finished her sophomore season as the third-best scorer for the Eagles, averaging 10.6 points per game on 52.4% from the floor and 32.4% from beyond the arc. The forward also brought in 6.4 rebounds per game with 37 starts in 37 matchups.
Kirkwood Community College finished the 2023-24 season as the NJCAA Division II National Champions with a 69-58 victory over Johnson County Community College at the end of March.
"We are very excited to welcome Kaylee to our Panther family," said head coach Tanya Warren. "She will bring us experience and depth in our front court. She comes from one of the best junior college programs in the country and was a key piece in Kirkwood's 2024 National Championship."
In high school, Corbin attended Louisa-Muscatine High School where she played under head coach Ken Spielbauer. A three-sport athlete at the prep level, Corbin was a member of the basketball, volleyball, and track and field teams. On the basketball court, she was a two-time team captain, All-Conference, and All-District talent as well as an All-State forward her senior year. Corbin set the Louisa-Muscatine High School single-season field goal percentage record (59.2%) her junior year and records for single-game scoring (36 points), single-season scoring (465 points), and team defense average (35.5 points) as a senior. She was named Co-Conference Player of the Year and to the IBCA All-Tournament Team in 2022 after averaging 22.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.4 steals, and a pair of assists per game as a senior.
"I've dreamt about going to [UNI] since I first arrived at Kirkwood," said Corbin. "I am an Iowa girl at heart and this is where my family and support is. Getting the opportunity to do what I love most, playing basketball, at a school I already loved was perfect for me. There couldn't be a place better for me."
