CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI guard Kayba Laube was named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Player of the Week as announced by the league Monday afternoon. This is the Panthers' second weekly honor of the 2024-25 season and Laube's first weekly honor of her career. The Panthers go back-to-back after Maya McDermott was named Player of the Week last week.
A Marion, Iowa native, Kayba Laube finished the Paradise Jam Island Tournament with 66 total points including a 20-point performance against Kansas and a career-high 34-point performance against Pittsburgh. In that 34-point performance, Laube set a new UNI single-game record and Paradise Jam Tournament single-game record with 10 three-pointers and became just the fifth MVC athlete to break the 10-three-pointer threshold. Laube shot 62.1% from beyond the arc including 66.7% in the Panthers' 16-point blowout of Pittsburgh. Laube added 15 recounts, five assists, and three steals to her weekend total as well.
Laube and the Panthers are back in action on Saturday, December 7 inside the McLeod Center as they take on the RV Creighton Bluejays. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT and can be streamed on ESPN+ or listened to on the Panther Sports Radio Network.
