CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The Panther swim and dive team will head to Iowa City this Thursday through Saturday to compete at the Hawkeye Invitational at the Campus Recreation-Wellness Center.Â
The three-day meet will feature the athletes from Iowa, Iowa State, San Diego State, Arkansas, Colorado State, Illinois, Kansas and Nebraska. Action is slated to begin on Thursday with prelims starting at 10 a.m. CT and finals beginning at 5 p.m. CT. The same format follows for competition on both Friday and Saturday.

UNI last competed at the Huskies (Coyote) Invite on Nov. 1-2 where the Panthers saw 11 first-place finishes. Competition started off strong with the quartet of Elyse Brayton, Sydney Aird, Hannah Nedder and Morgan Meyer taking first place (3:53.27) in the 400-yard medley relay. Faith Larsen, Abby Lear, and Meyer followed by sweeping the podium in the 50-yard freestyle with times of (23.41), (24.16), and (24.23).Â
Olivia Chambers, who made her season-debut following her Paralympic gold medal performance this summer, took home the top prize in the 400-yard individual medley (4:34.77), while Larsen took first in the 100-yard butterfly (56.61) as Meyer found herself at the top of the results sheet in the 100-yard freestyle (51.87).The combo of Lear, Meyer, Nedder and Larsen finished off the opening night of action winning the 200-yard free relay title (1:34.16).Â
The second day of competition saw the Panthers taking great strides as with the quad of Brayton, Aird, Nedder and Larsen taking first place (1:47.06) in the 200-yard medley relay. Meyer finished first in the 200-yard freestyle and claimed her third victory of the weekend in the 100-yard freestyle (52.23). Brayton took first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.48) as the relay team of Meyer, Lear, Domnick and Larsen closed out competition with a top finish in the 400-yard free relay (3.29.00).
Over in the diving well, Erica Peters took second place in the three-meter diving with a score of 239.05, while Maddie Moran followed in third at 234.10, her highest collegiate finish on the boards.
In the one-meter diving competition, the Panthers saw another podium sweep as Peters, Trista Thompson and Moran captured the top-three places with scores of 249.45, 248.25 and 222.75 respectively.Â
