CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI men's golf team will tee off the 2023 fall season starting Tuesday as the Panther compete in the first of two meets in the next week at the ANF Iowa Fall Classic in Riverside.
The Panthers will also compete out west for a second consecutive season at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitation in Colorado Springs, hosted by the U.S. Air Force Academy, Sept. 10-12. Tee times for both tournaments have yet to be announced.
UNI took sixth place at last year's Iowa Fall Classic at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course out of nine teams, competing on the 7,400-yard, par-72 course. The Panthers will be challenged early with a competitive 13-team field including Iowa State, Southern Illinois, St. Thomas and North Dakota State.
Returning to Colorado after a 20th place finish in a crowded field last September, the Eisenhower Golf Course plays 7,500 yards and a par-72 and is expected to present a challenge to the Panther lineup.
UNI returns eight from their roster of a year ago, led by redshirt senior Griffin Parker, who took tenth place at last April's Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championships and notched an average round score of 74.09 last season. Connor Van Weelden also returns to the links after averaging 75.10 in 2022-23, while the Panthers added two freshmen in Tanner Dinniber and Zach McCarty.
