CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI men's and women's golf takes on their final tournament ahead of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championships beginning Monday morning as the Panthers tee off at the Stampede at the Creek in eastern Nebraska, hosted by Omaha.
Play will begin at 9:30 a.m. CT, with individual tee times yet to be announced for the two-day, three-round tournament.
Set at the par-72Â Indiana Creek Golf Course, the UNI men will play on the 7,151-yard Black Bird and Grey Hawk course against opponents including Bradley, Green Bay and North Dakota. The Panther ladies will compete on the 5,988-yard Black Bird and Red Feather courses against a field including Creighton, South Dakota and North Dakota State.
The UNI men are coming off a fifth place team finish at the WIU Invite last week, led by a pair of top-10 finishes by Tommy Doyle (6th place / E) and Griffin Parker (8th place / -1). Parker shot a season-best 68 (-3) in the opening round, improving his season's average score to 74.7.
On the women's side, the Panthers took third place at the WIU Invite, with freshman Victoria Hualde Zúñiga leading the way in fourth place, shooting a season-best 75 in the opening round to finish the tournament at 231 (+18). Anna Jensen meanwhile took home seventh place with a final score of 234 (+22).
A traditional tournament for Panther golfers to compete in, the UNI men's will look to improve after taking fourth place out of nine teams at last year's Stampede At The Creek, while the Panther ladies took seventh. Parker finished in a tie for fifth place a year ago with a score of 216 (E), while Jensen and Allison Nuss both tied for 30th place after shooting 241 (+25).
