Darta Dalecka makes MVC All-Select Team for UNI women's tennis

ST. LOUIS - UNI's Darta Dalecka has been named to the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis All-Select Team.Â
The 2022 All-Conference team comprises one individual from each of the six singles positions, as well as three doubles teams from each of the doubles positions. In addition, six individuals are chosen regardless of position played and are named to the "All-Select" Team. Individuals named all-conference in doubles are also eligible to be named to the all-select team in singles.Â
The All-Conference and All-Select teams are chosen by a vote of league coaches.
Dalecka, a freshman, is on a win streak having won the last two singles matches of her season.
Dalecka is 8-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference at No. 1 singles and doubles. Dalecka is from Jaunmarupe, Latvia.Â
The "All-Select" team has two players from Bradley while Drake, Illinois State, UNI and Valparaiso each have one player on the team. Stony Brook players will be named to the All-Select team following the completion of the conference championship.
The 2022 All-Conference team is made up of individuals from Bradley, Drake, Illinois State and Valparaiso. The Illinois State Redbirds claimed two singles spots on the all-conference team as well as all three doubles pairings. Drake also grabbed a pair of singles awards.
Posting 21 singles wins this year, the third-most in a single season in Valparaiso program history, Olivia Czerwonka earned Player of the Year honors. Czerwonka held a 4-1 singles record during the league play.
Mille Haagensen of Drake earned Freshman of the Year honors after a dominant season at No. 4 singles, posting a perfect 5-0 record in league play and a 10-6 record overall. In the fall, Haagensen captured the No. 4 Singles crown at the MVC Individual Tennis Championships.
Drake's Kristina Lott earned the 2022 MVC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year honor. In her first year with the program, Lott led the Bulldogs to a perfect 5-0 record in league play, while finishing 13-6 overall.
The tournament is scheduled from April 22-24 with UNI in the quarterfinal match at 3 p.m. Friday, April 22.
Drake University is hosting the event at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center. Admission is free. Fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, and parking is available next to the outdoor courts.
