UNI wrestling closes out 2022 dual season with No. 8 Wisconsin

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - UNI wrestling closes out the 2022 dual season against No. 8 Wisconsin.

The Panthers will host the Badgers at the McLeod Center and honor the team's seniors prior to the match. It will be the eighth top-25 opponent UNI has faced.

Wisconsin has a slight edge in the series. UNI is 23-25-2 in the competitions that date back to 1927. Head coach Doug Schwab is 5-3 against Wisconsin.

Parker Keckeisen is looking to extend his nine-match win streak at 184 pounds. Kyle Biscoglia has won nine of his last 10 bouts and notched 13 bonus-point wins so far this season with a record of 17-7 at 133 pounds. At 125 pounds, Brody Teske has the opportunity to knock off his fourth top-20 opponent this week.

Austin Yant has started another win streak and has won eight of his last nine matches. Lance Runyon joined the lineup late in the year after suffering a season-ending injury in March last year. In just five matches, he has notched three top-20 wins at 174 pounds. Heavyweight Carter Isley also has returned to the lineup after being the Panthers' mainstay last season. He is 2-3 on the year and holds the team's fastest fall of the year, pinning West Virginia's Tristan Kemp in 14 seconds.

ON WISCONSIN

Eric Barnett (125 pounds) has only lost to No. 17 Michael DeAugustino of Northwestern. He was eighth at last year's NCAA championships.

At 133 pounds, Kyle Burwick earned his first trip to the NCAA championships last year. Ethan Rotondo competed in the 2021 USA World Team Trials in senior men's freestyle at 57 kilograms.

True freshman Joseph Zargo (141 pounds) is coming off an 8-6 decision over No. 4 Dylan Duncan.

Austin Gomez transferred from Iowa State to join the Badgers this season. He earned a spot at the 2019 NCAA championships with a third-place finish at the Big 12 Championships.

True freshman Dean Hamiti (165 pounds) has only lost to No. 5 Alex Marinelli of Iowa. Sixteen of his 18 wins have come with bonus points. He is seventh in the nation among the most dominant Division I wrestlers for bonus points earned.

Andrew McNally (174 pounds) has competed for Eastern Michigan and Kent State and has made three trips to the NCAAs.

Chris Weiler (184 pounds) is a Lehigh transfer and three-time NCAA qualifier, twice at 184 pounds and once at 197 pounds.

Braxton Amos (197) is third on the national list for most tech falls in the least amount of time with six in 27 minutes, 55 seconds. Amos, a freshman, qualified for the Olympic trials in Greco Roman and freestyle prior to his career at Wisconsin. He is the 2021 Junior World Champion gold medalist in freestyle at 97 kilograms.

Heavyweight Trent Hillger took sixth at last year's national championships.
