UNI football: Hutson, Bailey, Pettinger named to MVFC All-Newcomer Team

ST. LOUIS --- UNI's Desmond Hutson, Cordarrius Bailey and Noah Pettinger have earned spots on the Missouri Valley Football Conference's (MVFC) All-Newcomer Team, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Hutson, a 6-3, 215-pound redshirt freshman wide receiver transfer from the University of Iowa, recorded 201 receiving yards on 16 catches in 2022 with 5 touchdown receptions. The Raytown, Mo. native hauled in a season-high 39 yards in UNI's win over Utah Tech, and scored two touchdowns in the Panthers' victory at Southern Illinois, including the game-winning score in the fourth quarter. Hutson was also named the MVFC's Newcomer of the Week on Oct. 30.
Bailey, a 6-3, 243-pound redshirt senior transfer from Iowa State notched 31 total tackles with 4.5 tackles for loss in his first season with UNI. The Clarksdale, Miss. native recorded a pair of sacks for minus-11 yards with one forced fumble in the Panthers' home victory over Missouri State.
Freshman punter Pettinger saw action in UNI's final eight game, recording 16 punts for a total of 686 yards (42.8 yards per punt). The Dubuque, Iowa native and Hempstead High School product notched three punts over 50 yards with just two punts landing in the end zone for touchbacks. Pettinger notched a season-high six punts against No. 1 South Dakota State for 270 yards.
