Panther cross country wraps season at NCAA Midwest Regionals

COLUMBIA, Mo. — UNI's cross country season came to an end on Friday morning as the Panthers competed at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships, running the Gans Creek Cross Country Course for the second time this year.
The Panther women took 25th place out of 33 teams competing with a total of 695 points in the 6K race. On the men's side, UNI competed with just four runners in its first 10K course of the season.
Sophomore Emma Hoins led the Panthers with a time of 21:42 finishing in the top-100 in 93rd place. Mia Rampton crossed the finish line in 143rd place, running a 22:19, dropping 33 seconds from her final time at last year's NCAA Regional Championships. Kate Crawford finished in 148th place in a time of 22:23, while Sydney Schaffer ran a time of 23.31 (156th place). Paige Holub rounded out the UNI field in 160th place, running a time of 22:36.
The UNI men were led by Caleb Shumaker, who placed first for the Panthers with a time of 31:59, finishing in 150th place. Payton Marrs finished in 156th place running a time of 32:04, as Brady Griebel secured a 172nd place finish with a time of 32:29. Drake Hanson rounded out the four-person Panther field in 192nd place after running a 33:57.
