CEDAR FALLS - The University of Northern Iowa Swimming and Diving team will travel to Iowa City on Friday, October 1 to begin their 2021-22 campaign. The Panthers return 19 swimmers and divers, including defending 200 backstroke MVC Champion Amber Finke.Â
Due to COVID-19 schedule adjustments, the teams did not meet in the short 2020-21 season. In the most recent meeting, the Hawkeyes defeated the Panthers in Iowa City as part of a tri-meet including Michigan State. The Hawkeyes have bested the Panthers in all previous meetings.Â
The Panthers return three from the All-Conference team, including Iowa City native and 200 butterfly school record holder Lily Ernst. On the boards, Taylor Hogan enters her junior year after achieving the NCAA Zone Diving standard last spring.
The Campus Recreation and Wellness Center in Iowa City will be home to the MVC Championships in February, hosted by UNI. For the underclassman, including 13 newcomers, the dual meet on Friday is the first opportunity to race in the facility as Panthers.Â
Racing begins at 5 p.m. Live results are available on Meet Mobile and the meet can be livestreamed on BTN+.
