Cedar Falls- UNI Head Coach Dave Paulsen has announced the addition of Noah Castle (seen in the middle of the photo)Â as the new Track & Field Assistant Coach working with the throws.Â
Castle comes from Eastern Illinois where he has served the Panthers throws coach since September 2019. He coached athletes that achieved 8 top-10 marks and broke 3 school records during his time at EIU. Castle coached Makenna Wilson to 2 OVC championships in the shot put and a 13th place finish in the hammer throw at the NCAA West Preliminary Round in 2021. The Panthers also captured OVC Championships as a team in 2020 and 2021.
"We are thrilled to have Noah join our staff to continue to build on the success of our throws program" said Paulsen. "In just two years at EIU, Coach Castle rejuvenated the throws program that had a major impact in winning multiple conference championships. He is a true student of the sport, a passionate high energy coach, and I am excited to support him as he leads our throws group and to an even higher level."
"I would like to thank Coach Paulsen and the UNI Athletic Department for this amazing opportunity," Castle said. "The University of Northern Iowa is a great university academically and athletically, and has a long record of success in the throws and as a team. I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with this staff and team to add the great history of the program. I would also like to thank the people I was lucky to work with at Eastern Illinois. I will forever be grateful for all of my relationships with the staff, support staff, and the student-athletes."
Castle is a 2019 graduate of the University of Kentucky where he was a 4 time All-American in the shot put and discus, and a 2 time SEC medalist in the discus.Â
