THE PANTHERS
- The Panthers and Tommies haven't played since 1927 in Cedar Falls.
-  The Panther offense exploded in the third quarter against Sacramento State, scoring 27 unanswered points behind Theo Day at QB. Entering the game at halftime Day finished with 120 yards passing for 6-11 with 2 touchdowns.

THE TOMMIES
- The Tommie football program enters its first season in the FCS in the fall of 2021. A prolific D-III program in their own right, the Tommies made 2 NCAA runner-ups finished (2012 and 2015) and have made 8 NCAA playoff appearances in the last 11 seasons. The Tommies dominated the MIAC, winning 7 conference championships in the last 10 seasons.
- Glenn Caruso was named the 29th head coach in the 114-year history of University of St. Thomas football in January 2008. He's led the Tommies' remarkable surge that produced two NCAA Division III championship game trips over eight seasons.
- Caruso, 45, is among the NCAA's most accomplished coaches in any sport under age 50. The six-time National Coach of the Year (the most among all current coaches) is entering his 14th season guiding the Tommies in 2021.
- Caruso took over a program that won 97 games the previous 17 years and has won 126 in his first 12 seasons. His leadership launched a five-year surge from 2008-2012 that saw the Tommie climb from a No. 206 national ranking all the way to No. 2.
- In their only game of the season, the Tommies scored 1 rushing touchdown and went 2-2 in the kicking game to win their first game 12-9.
- The Tommies recorded 76 total tackles with 3 sacks and 9 tackles for loss against Michigan Tech.
