
Panther Volleyball Splits Day Two of Cougar Challenge

PULLMAN, Washington – The UNI Panther volleyball team finished 2-1 at the Cougar Challenge after going 1-1 Friday in Bohler Gym. UNI was swept by tournament host Washington State before quickly bouncing back for a 3-0 sweep over Long Beach State.
Washington State L, 3-0 (13-25, 16-25, 17-25)
UNI collected 24 total kills on an attack percentage of .010, and the Panthers also registered two service aces, 34 digs, and seven blocks during the three-set match.
Carly Spies led UNI in kills for the first time this season with six total terminations. Kaylee Donner and Jenna Brandt, who had a team-high nine digs, each notched a service ace. Inga Rotto topped the Panthers with three blocks.
Long Beach State W, 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 28-26)
The Panthers hit .205 for the match and tallied 41 kills. UNI served four aces and allowed just one ace to the Beach. The Panthers posted 37 digs along with a 7-to-6 block advantage for the contest.
Tayler Alden, Kaylissa Arndorfer, and Inga Rotto paced UNI with eight kills apiece. Kira Fallert's three aces represented the match high in the service zone. Defensively, Kaylee Donner led the squad with 10 digs while Fallert and Rotto each recorded four blocks.

The Panthers will host their home opener Wednesday, September 15 when the Iowa State Cyclones come to Cedar Falls for the first time since 2018. First serve is scheduled for 7 pm inside the McLeod Center.
