Sammey Bunch Earns All-American Honors

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - UNI's Sammey Bunch has earned Second Team All-American honors from Softball America and First Team honors from Justin's World of Softball.
"This is such a great honor for a fantastic person and phenomenal softball player," said head coach Ryan Jacobs. "Sammey has developed herself as one of the elite players in NCAA Division I softball. Not many can say they have done that. We are all excited for her and thank her for representing UNI in such a professional way. She will go down as one of the best to wear the Panther softball uniform."
Bunch's record breaking career earns her the first All-American honor for the UNI softball team since Jamie Fisher was named an Easton Second Team All-American in 2012. The redshirt senior shortstop finished the season 1st in UNI single season home runs (22), runs scored (58), slugging percentage (1.000), and on base percentage (.581) and second in batting average (.444) and RBI (56).
A 4 time First Team All-MVC selection and 2 time MVC Player of the Year (2019, 2021), Bunch leaves the program first at UNI in career home runs (59), RBI (184), runs scored (200), on base percentage (.468), slugging percentage (.730), and batting average (.369). Bunch was named the MVC Freshman of the Year in 2018 and named the MVC Defensive Player of the Year in 2019.
