Panthers Finish Fifth at the MVC Swimming and Diving Championships

MVC Championship Results

Carbondale, IL - The UNI swimming and diving team wrapped up the season at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships this week. The Panthers finished fifth in the conference with a score of 344.

Two freshmen Amber Finke and Lily Ernst earned All-MVC First Team honors for finishing in the top three of an event. Finke took the title in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:57.72. Ernst got second place in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:03.78.

Four Panthers, including all three divers, earned Honorable Mention All Conference after placing in the top eight. The list includes seniors Anika Lillegard-Bouton and Jayden Lovell and sophomores Taylor Hogan and Anna Penning.

In addition to her win in the 200 backstroke, Amber Finke also grabbed third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.19 and fifth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.43.

In the 1-meter dive, Taylor Hogan placed fifth (225.90), Jayden Lovell placed sixth (223.05), and Anna Penning (200.06). Lovell also placed sixth in the 3-meter dive. Anika Lillegard-Bouton got seventh place in the 1650 freestyle.

UNI's relay teams also had some top eight finishes. The 200 medley relay took fourth. In sixth place was the freestyle relay, the 200 medley relay, the 800 freestyle relay, and the 400 freestyle relay.

The Panthers graduate seniors Jayden Lovell, Olivia Crouse, Emma Baertlein, Anika, Lillegard-Bouton, and Maddie Webb.
