Teske, Keckeisen Advance to Final at Big 12s

TULSA – UNI's Parker Keckeisen and Brody Teske advanced to Sunday's championship matches and six Panthers remain alive after the first two rounds of the Big 12 Championship Saturday at the BOK Center in Tulsa.
Teske opened the day with a 19-2 tech fall over Wyoming's Derrick Stacey before grabbing an 8-0 major decision against Oklahoma's Mason Naifeh. In the semifinal, he took down South Dakota State's Danny Vega 8-6 to advance to the final where he will face Utah Valley's Taylor LaMont, the No. 2 seed in the bracket.
Keckeisen grabbed a hard-fought 5-3 win in his first-round bout before his quarterfinal opponent was forced to forfeit because of injury. He won his semifinal match 7-3 over Northern Colorado's Alan Clothier. He will face Wyoming's Tate Samuelson in the final tomorrow.
Four other wrestlers remain in the wrestle-back portions of the bracket.
Triston Lara won his quarterfinal bout 9-4 before dropping his hard-fought semifinal to Boo Lewallen 7-4. He faces Iowa State's Jarett Degen in the consolation semifinal.
Austin Yant fell to West Virginia's Peyton Hall 5-4 in his opening bout but rallied. He fell behind 10-2 in his consolation opener but rallied to win 17-15 in sudden victory. He faces top-seed Travis Wittlake from Oklahoma State in the consolation semis.
Carter Isley earned a pin in his first match but dropped his second in overtime. He battled back to earn a 9-0 major decision and a 10-3 win to make it to the consolation semis. He faces Oklahoma's Josh Heindselman in the consolation semifinals.
The last remaining wrestler is Cayd Lara. After dropping his opener, he earned a major decision in his consolation opener. He dropped his second-round bout but earned an appearance in the seventh-place match. He faces Danny Snediker in the bout, the wrestler he lost to in the opener.
As a team, UNI sits sixth, with 68 points, just one point behind NDSU.
The action starts at 10 a.m. with consolation brackets. The championship session begins at 5 p.m. on ESPN2.
