WATERLOO, Iowa – The UNI women's tennis team swept Upper Iowa, 7-0, at the Black Hawk Tennis Club in Waterloo on Friday.

The Panthers swept the doubles point, going 6-0 on all three courts. Sophomore Emma Carr/junior Olivia Fain were first off the courts, defeating Varvara Ogorodnikova/Lina Ziani on the No. 1 court. Clinching the doubles point for the Panthers was senior Madeline Doherty/freshman Sullivan, downing Mya Herrmann/Elaina Wall on the No. 3 court. Sophomore Thaissa Moreira/senior Valentina Caro capped doubles action with a win over Jessa Michieli/Alejandra Abella on the No. 2 court.

In singles action, Caro was first off the courts, sweeping Abella 6-0, 6-0, on the No. 4 court. Sullivan defeated Wall, 6-0, 6-1, on the No. 6 court. Fain was quick to follow with a win on the No. 5 court, toppling Herrman, 6-1, 6-0. Moreira downed Ziani, 6-0, 6-1, on the No. 3 court to clinch the match for the Panthers. After a tight first set, Carr defeated Ogorodnikova, 6-4, 6-1, on the No. 1 court. Doherty closed out the Panthers' sweep on the No. 2 court, defeating Michieli 7-6(3), 6-0.
