Softball Splits on Day 1 of Easton T-Town Showdown

Tuscaloosa, Alabama – UNI softball finished 1-1 on day one of the Easton T-Town Showdown, beating South Alabama 9-2 and also falling to South Alabama 5-1.
Game 1 | South Alabama 9, UNI 2
The Panthers scored scored two runs on five hits and left six on base.
In the circle, Hailey Sanders, Samantha Heyer, and Hannah Kelley all contributed. Sanders went three innings giving up three hits, five runs, two earned and struckout two. Heyer threw one inning striking out one and walking two. Finally Kelley went three inngings giving up two hits, two runs, one earned, and struck out four. Hailey Sanders (0-1) picked up the loss.
On the offensive side the Panthers found a spark from Senior Sammey Bunch, who went 2-4 with one home run, one run, and two RBI's. Taylor Hogan, Madison Parks, and Hannah Isley all recorded one hit. Parks also scored one run and was walked once.
Game 2 | UNI 5, South Alabama 1
On offense six Panther batters recorded one hit. Including, Taylor Hogan, Sammey Bunch, Emmy Wells, Kamryn Shaffer, Daryn Lamprecht, and Sammy Moss. Sophomore Kamryn Shaffer led the Panthers going 1-for-3 with one home run, one run, and tagging four bases.
Sophomore Kailyn Packard (4-1) continues her dominance in the circle. Packard threw a complete game ending with a 1.29 ERA, six strikeouts and only one walk. The Sophomore ace gave up six hits and only one earned run.
The Panthers had a total of six hits, five runs, and four RBI's, and only one error in UNI's second game of the Easton T-Town Showdown Friday afternoon.
