Panthers Meet Ole Miss in WNIT Semifinals

The women's basketball team makes program history after a 58-50 win over St. Louis, claiming the Rockford Regional WNIT Championship. The Panthers' previous best WNIT experience was a round of 16Â appearance in 2016.
• Kam Finley was recognized with the WNIT Regional MVP. Finley averaged 15.3 points per game, shot 50.0% from the field and 64.3% from the three-point line. She led the Panthers in scoring in two of three games played so far.
• Megan Maahs was named to the all-region team. She averaged 10.7 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game. Maahs scored 20 points against Creighton and recorded 10 rebounds against St. Louis.
• Bre Gunnels recorded her third double-double of the season and fifth of her career in the win against St. Louis. She grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds and 10 points on the game. Gunnels also recorded a new career-high five blocks.
• Ole Miss enters the semifinals from the Memphis Region of the tournament. The Rebels defeated Colorado, 65-56, Monday night in Memphis. With one minute remaining, Mimi Reid made four free-throws clinching the Regional Championship title. Donnetta Johnson led the Rebels with 15 points and five rebounds. Shakira Austin was named WNIT MVP for the Memphis region after the regional championship game and Donnetta Johnson was named to the All-Tournament Team.
• Ole Miss and UNI will both enter the WNIT Semifinals for the first time in history and neither team has met in any previous matchup. UNI has an impressive 17-12 record and Ole Miss enters with a 14-11 record.
• The Panthers are 2-9 all-time against SEC teams. The Panthers have a 1-0 record against Arkansas, an 0-2 record against Alabama, a 0-1 record against Florida and a 1-6 record against Missouri.
• UNI is 6-8 all time in WNIT games, 9-12 all-time in postseason games. The Panthers advanced to the championship game of the 2012 WBI Championship.
• Ole Miss and UNI will meet Friday, Mar. 26 in the My Town Movers Fieldhouse, with a tip-off at 7 p.m. Ole Miss coach, Yolette McPhee-McCuin also returns for the first time after being in quarantine.
