Panther Soccer Defeat Missouri State 1-0

WATERLOO, Iowa – The UNI soccer team took the field against the Missouri State Bears Saturday afternoon, picking up the teams' first win of the season.
"I liked how we came out and competed today," said head coach Bruce Erickson. "We created some great chances and managed to put one in the net. We had another great defensive performance and and another shutout so we are very pleased witht he way we are playing right now."
The Panthers led the Bears at the end of the first half 1-0 with a goal by Sandra Thiman at the 30 minute mark. The Panthers leading shooter, Ashley Harrington, recording 4 shots attempts in the first half and added another in the second half. Thiman also records a notable 4 shots.
In the second half the Panthers held their lead against the Bears with a strong defensive performance, limiting the Bears to just 3 shots on goal. The Panther offense continued to push the Bears throughout the second half and finished with 8 second half shots on goal.
The Panthers ended the game with 8 shots on goal and 16 total shots while dominating the time of possession.

The UNI soccer team will be back in action against Southern Illinois on March 21st. UNI will travel to Carbondale, Illinois for a 1 pm game.
