UNI Wrestling Travels to Northern Illinois

No. 16 UNI wrestling travels to Northern Illinois for a Friday evening dual against the Huskies at 7 p.m. The Panthers are coming off of a 20-12 loss to No. 5 Oklahoma State last Saturday in the home finale. The Huskies are 6-2 on the year, but are coming off of three consecutive wins. It is the last time during the regular season that the Panthers will leave the state of Iowa.Â

• The Panthers are now ranked in every major dual poll after jumping into the Intermat rankings at No. 17.Â

• Six Panthers are ranked in various major polls. Parker Keckeisen jumped into the top ten in the Flo, Track and Win rankings after his win over senior All-American Dakota Geer. Brody Teske, Kyle Biskoglia, Pat Schoenfelder, Lance Runyon, Keckeisen and Carter Isley are all ranked in various polls.Â

• Two Northern Illinois Wrestlers are ranked in the polls. Izzak Olejnik is ranked 19th at 165. Brit Wilson is ranked 12th at 184. Â

• Brody Teske, Carter Isley and Parker Keckeisen are all undefeated on the year so far. Teske and Keckeisen are all 6-0 on the season while Isley is 5-0 on the year. Keckeisen has just two dual bouts on the season. Teske is 5-0 in duals and Isley is 4-0 in duals. All three wrestlers have wins over ranked opponents.Â

• UNI's only dual losses this season came against No. 6 and 9-0 Missouri and No. 5 and 7-0 Oklahoma State. Â

•Three wrestlers in the lineup have qualified for nationals, but only transfer Keegan Moore has wrestled in the NCAA Championships. Jack Skudlarczyk and Carter Isley both qualified for the 2020 NCAA Championships before it was canceled.Â

• Four wrestlers from Fort Dodge High School started for the Panthers in four duals. Brody Teske (125), Drew Bennett (141), Triston Lara (149) and Cayd Lara (157) are all in the lineup for UNI, Cayd Lara missed the dual with Oklahoma. It is believed that it is the first time that four wrestlers from the same high school were in the same lineup since 1949 when four Waterloo West wrestlers lined up for Cornell College.

• UNI Athletics this week announced that the final home quadrangular will shift to Ames. Originally scheduled to take place on Feb.13 in Cedar Falls. Duals against Arizona State, Northern Colorado and Iowa State will take place on Feb. 14 at Hilton Coliseum.Â
