UNI Soccer Votes 5th in Preseason Poll, Mewes Named Honorable Mention All-MVC

ST. LOUIS – The UNI women's soccer team has been selected fifth in the preseason coaches' poll as announced by the conference office on Wednesday. Sophomore Lizzie Mewes was named to the Preseason All-MVC Honorable Mention Team.
The Panthers finished the 2019 season with a 5-11 record and a 1-6 mark in the Missouri Valley Conference. UNI brings back seniors Johnnie Hill and Shelby Unruh and redshirt juniors Paige Sieren and Olivia Stearns, all four have significant playing experience for the Panthers.
The Ramblers of Loyola were selected first with 80 points and 8 first place votes. Voted second was Illinois State with 66 points and Missouri State with 63 points and 1 first place vote. Drake was votes 4th with 61 points followed by UNI with 38. Valparaiso was voted 5th with 36 points while Evansville received 25 points. Indiana State and Southern Illinois received 13 and 13 points respectively.
As a freshman Lizzie Mewes was named to the MVC All-Freshman Team after playing in 16 games with 16 starts. Mewes scored 2 goals with 1 assists and finished with 19 shots and 10 shots on goal.
