Panthers Split Against Lipscomb

Nashville, Tennessee – The Panthers went 1-1 against the Bison of Lipscomb on Wednesday, February 24. UNI now sits 3-3 Overall with 3 weeks before Conference play starts.
GAME 1 | Lipscomb 9, UNI 1
Freshman Taylor Hogan led the way for the Panthers 2-for-3 with two hits. Senior Sammey Bunch also contributed to her hitting parade hitting a solo home run for the Panthers lone run of the game.
Three Panther pitchers got action in the circle. Hannah Kelley Started the game going 1 1/3 inning, Samantha Heyer would come in to relieve Kelley going 1 2/3 innings, and Hailey Sander finished the game going 2 1/3 innings. The Panther pitchers combined to strike out four and only gave up three walks. Heyer got the loss.
Senior Sammey Bunch got the Panthers on the board first with her two out solo home run in the top of the 1st with two outs for her fourth homer of the season. The Panthers would go on to not score again, leaving eight runners on base, on seven hits, and zero errors.

GAME 2 | UNI 3, Lipscomb 1
Sophomore Kailyn Packard (1-1) picked up her first win as a Panther throwing a complete game. Packard was dominate in the circle striking out ten, walking zero, and gave up one run that was earned.
Freshman Sammy Moss and Senior Sammey Bunch led the way for the Panthers in Game 2 of the doubleheader. Moss went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Bunch went 2-for-4 with two RBI's and one run. Taylor Hogan and Kamryn Shaffer also contributed at the plate for the Panthers each tallying one hit and one run a piece.
Bunch continued her home run hitting streak hitting a deep two run home run to left center field that scored Taylor Hogan who previously singled to left field then stole second. With the score tied at 1-1 the home run by Bunch in the top of the 5th would give the Panthers a 3-1 lead that would end up being the final score.

UNI travels to Birmingham, Alabama take part in the Samford Tournament. The Panthers are back in action on Friday, February 26th against Samford University with the first pitch set at 1:00 p.m. CT. The game can be watched on ESPN+
