Panther Softball Goes 1-1 on Day One of Doc Halverson UNI-Dome Classic

Cedar Falls, Iowa – UNI softball finished 1-1 on day one of the Doc Halverson UNI-Dome Classic, beating Butler 6-5 and falling to Iowa State 12-2.

The Panthers scored six runs as UNI beat the Bulldogs on Friday by a score of 6-5.

Sophomore Hannah Kelley (1-0) picked up the win for UNI after having to relieve Kailyn Packard. Kelley went four innings giving up four hits, one run, striking out five, and walking none.

On the offensive side the Panthers found a spark from Freshman Taylor Hogan, who went 2-4 and two runs. Freshman Sammy Moss also delivered, going 2-3 with one RBI. Freshman Emmy Wells also helped the Panthers to their first win of the year going 1-2 with a homerun, two RBI's, and scoring one run.

UNI vs. ISU | L, 12-2

Sophomore Kamryn Shaffer led the way for the Panthers offensively going 2-3 and scoring two runs in route to UNI's 12-2 loss against in-state rival Iowa State on Friday afternoon.

Freshman Samantha Heyer (0-1) got the ball to start for UNI (1-1) and took the loss.

The Panthers had a total of six hits, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's in UNI's second game of the Doc Halverson UNI-Dome Classic Friday afternoon. Samantha Heyer went four innings after being relieved by Erica Oler in the top of the 5^th inning.

The Panthers recorded six hits while only giving up one error
