No. 17 UNI Wrestling vs. No. 10 Virginia Tech
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI wrestling opens its dual season with two top-10 teams in No. 3 Missouri (3-0) and No. 10 Virginia Tech (1-1).
UNI returns nearly the entire starting lineup, including six 2021 NCAA qualifiers and 184-pound All-American Parker Keckeisen.
Keckeisen took third last year as a redshirt freshman. He will have two top-10 matchups this weekend, including a rematch from the 2021 NCAA championships with Virginia Tech's No. 10 Hunter Bolen. Keckeisen beat Bolen 4-2 in sudden victory in the quarterfinal match. Bolen finished seventh.
The Mizzou lineup includes all 10 returning NCAA qualifiers and two returning all-Americans with No. 3 Keegan O'Toole (165 pounds) and No. 5 Rocky Elam at 197 pounds. Both also captured world junior gold at the 2021 Junior World Championships in Oslo, Russia.
The Hokies have a national and junior world champion, three returning all-Americans, a junior world bronze medalist, and seven NCAA championship qualifiers.
Sam Latona is the reigning ACC champion and earned all-America honors with a sixth-place finish last year.
Korbin Myers took fourth at the NCAA championships after winning the ACC.
Bryce Andonian competed for Team USA this summer, and finished third at the 2021 Junior World Championships in Oslo, Russia.
Mekhi Lewis is the 2018 Junior World champion and was a national champion as a redshirt freshman in 2019 before taking an Olympic redshirt year. An injury last season pulled him out of the NCAA tournament.
Hunter Bolen is a three-time NCAA qualifier who took seventh last year at the NCAA championships.

MISSOURI
UNI will face Missouri first. Mizzou has returned as an affiliate member of the Big 12. For the last nine years, Missouri has competed in the Mid-American Conference. UNI is 21-14 against Mizzou, and UNI head coach Doug Schwab is 2-7 against the Tigers. The series dates back to 1934, and the last meeting in the 2021 season was a loss for UNI on neutral ground in Ames, Iowa, 34-6.The Mizzou lineup includes all 10 returning NCAA qualifiers and two returning all-Americans with No. 3 Keegan O'Toole (165 pounds) and No. 5 Rocky Elam at 197 pounds.
