UNI men's basketball at Marshall
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI men's basketball returns to the road on Saturday afternoon as they visit the Marshall Thundering Herd (7-4) at the Cam Henderson Center in Huntington, W. Va.
The Panthers (3-5) travel east following a 66-56 win over Jackson State on Tuesday night at the McLeod Center. UNI overcame a seven-point halftime deficit against the Tigers thanks to a strong offensive performance in the second half, led by a 24-point game by AJ Green. Guard Nate Heise recorded his first career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds against Jackson State, while Noah Carter scored 11 points for the Panthers.
Marshall returns home following a 75-65 loss at Ohio on Wednesday night. Led by former NBA assistant coach Dan D'Antoni, the Thunder Herd were selected fourth in the Conference-USA preseason. Senior guard Taevion Kinsey, who was selected to the league's preseason all-conference honors list, leads Marshall with 20.6 points per game as one of the top 15 scorers in the nation. On defense, Obinna Anochili-Killen ranks second in the county with 4.7 blocks per game and leads the Thundering Herd with 7.4 rebounds a game.
Saturday marks the second all-time meeting between UNI and Marshall after the two programs met in Cedar Falls in an 88-80 victory for the Panthers during the 2019-20 season.
