
Panther wrestling to open home season with UNI Open

UNI Wrestling hosts UNI Open
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI wrestling will host its first home event this weekend in the UNI-Dome.
The UNI Open will kick off the first of seven competitions for the Panthers. UNI is expected to have nearly 30 Panthers on the mat and host more than 100 competitors. Bouts will be held on six mats, starting at 9 a.m.
Fans are encouraged to bring items to donate to Toys for Tots. Bins will be placed at the UNI-Dome's southwest entrance.
Tickets will be available for walk-up sales at the southwest doors. UNI season tickets will be honored, and single-meet price for this event is $10.
The competition field will include wrestlers from about 15 teams, including Chattanooga, Grand View, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota State, North Iowa Area Community College, Purdue, South Dakota State, St. Cloud State and Wisconsin.
The Panthers are ranked 20th in the nation as a team and have eight wrestlers in the top-33 spots.
Parker Keckeisen leads UN in the rankings at No. 4 in the 184-pound weight class, and Brody Teske is No. 10 at 125 pounds.

This will be UNI's last home event until Jan. 21 when the Panthers host Utah Valley in the West Gym. Tickets are on sale now for the final home duals in the McLeod Center against Iowa State University and Wisconsin 7 p.m. Feb. 11 and Feb. 17.
