CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI men's basketball wraps up their brief two-game home stand on Tuesday night as they take on the Jackson State Tigers (2-6) at the McLeod Center.
The Panthers (2-5) are coming off a 60-52 loss against Richmond on Sunday afternoon at home.
Noah Carter recorded a team-high 13 points for UNI in last Sunday's game, his second consecutive game this season scoring in double-digit figures. AJ Green led the Panthers with a game-high nine rebounds in the loss, as Nate Heise pulled down five rebounds.
Jackson State will come to town on Tuesday night following a key matchup against No. 17 Iowa State on Sunday afternoon in Ames. The Tigers, who were selected third in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) poll, are led by senior forward/center Jayveous McKinnis, one of the nation's top rebounders with 13.2 rebounds per game. McKinnis is a SWAC Preseason First Team selection, as well as the league's preseason defensive player of the year.
The Tigers also feature junior guard/forward Chance Moore, playing in his first season at Jackson State after transferring from Wichita State in the offseason. Moore has come off the bench in each of his first seven games this season, averaging 9.3 points per game, posting double-digit points four times this season, including a career-high 16 points at California Baptist last month. Tuesday's game marks the third all-time meeting between the Panthers and Tigers, and first since the 2000-01 season. UNI has won both prior matchups, defeating Jackson State by 17 points in their first meeting in 1988 in Cedar Falls, and by a score of 54-49 in 2000 in the UNI-Dome.
