CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The majority of the UNI wrestling team will open competition this weekend at the Daktronics Open in Brookings, South Dakota.

Nebraska, ranked 10th, No. 13 Iowa State, South Dakota State are expected to bring full teams. UNI is ranked No. 16 in the NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll.

"We're excited to get the rest of the team out this weekend," said head coach Doug Schwab. "We will be tested early. We're ready to wrestle."

UNI returns all six Panthers who qualified for the 2021 NCAA National Wrestling Championships. Nearly the entire starting lineup is back, including all-American Parker Keckeisen, who was third at last year's championships as a freshman.

Last week eight freshmen expected to redshirt this season competed at the Grand View Open. Four won their weight class in the freshman/sophomore division while another three earned a spot on the podium.
