Panthers finish at Gans Creek Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Panthers competed in the Gans Creek Classic hosted by the University of Missouri Oct. 1. The men finished their 8K with a 15th place finish with an overall team score of 453. The women finished their 6K with an 11th place finish, with a total team score of 265.Â
The freshman class continues to lead the women with standout freshman Kiki Connell with her 16th place finish overall and a new best time of 21:28.8 in the 6K. Connell moved to tie 10th place overall in UNI cross country history with current teammate Gabby Champion. Freshman Kate Crawford ran well, finishing 61st with a time of 22:47.9. Isabelle Schaffer marked her first college 6K time with a 22:55.5 and a 68th place finish overall. Sophia Jungling finished in 70th place right behind teammate Schaffer with a time of 22:56.1 and a new best in the 6K.Â
For the men, senior Sam McCool continues to lead the pack with a time of 25:25.2 and a 73rd place finish. Freshman Caleb Schumaker ran the 8K with a time of 25:50.6 finishing in 104th place. Freshman Drake Hanson finished with a time of 27:03.5 seconds shy of his best recorded 8K.Â
Panthers next competition will be Oct. 15Â in the Bradley Pink Classic hosted by Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.Â
