• Home-field advantage has meant little in the recent series as the road team has won six of the last nine meetings dating back to 2014, including the visiting team winning each of the last two matchups.

• Northern Iowa ended South Dakota State's season in the 2019 playoffs with a 13-10 victory at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium, whille the Jackrabbits rallied for a 24-20 victory in the 2020-21 season opener on Feb. 19 at the UNI-Dome in their most recent meeting.

• South Dakota State is one of only two Football Championship Subdivision programs to reach the playoffs each of the last nine seasons, including making consecutive national semifinal appearances in 2017 and 2018.
