Panther Soccer Continues Road Trip to Valparaiso

THIS WEEK'S ACTION:
Sunday, October 17th - Valparaiso, Indiana
UNI at Valparaiso - 1 p.m.Â
THE PANTHERS:
- The Panthers got their first road win of the season on Wednesday against Missouri State. UNI's 2-0 win over the Bears was their first road win since March 21st against Southern Illinois.
- Junior defender Sandra Thiman got her first goal of the season this week against Missouri State. Thiman's goal in the 49th minute was the Panther's game-winning goal made off a corner kick.
- Senior goalkeeper Chloe Russo got her second shutout of the season on Wednesday against Missouri State, making 5 saves. Russo's first shutout came on September 19th against Kansas City.
- The Panthers look to secure a spot in the MVC Tournament at the end of October with a win this weekend against Valparaiso to stay one game ahead of the Drake Bulldogs.
THE BEACONS:
- The Beacons head into Sunday's matchup with the second best record in the MVC at 5-0, sitting just one game behind conference leading Loyola.
- The Beacons are currently on a 7-game win streak for only the fourth time in program history. Valpo's longest win streak sits at 12-matches in 2014.
- Sophomore forward Kelsie James currently leads the MVC in goals per game (.54), shots per game (4.46), and shots on goal per game (2.31). No other player in the conference leads in more than 2 catagories besides James.
- Sophomore goaltender Nikki Coryell spends the most time in net for the Beacons with 12 games played, over 1000 minutes logged, and four shutouts against MVC opponents.Â
