Panther Wrestling Hosts No. 5 Oklahoma State, Saturday

Saturday, the No. 16 Panther Train hosts No. 5 Oklahoma State in a Big 12 dual at 1 p.m. in the McLeod Center. The dual is the first of the day for the Cowboys who will continue on to Ames to take on Iowa State at 7 p.m. OSU is 5-0 on the year and 1-0 in Big 12 action. This is their Oklahoma State's dual against a ranked opponent. UNI is 3-1 on the year and 3-0 in Big 12 duals. UNI is coming off of a 23-13 win over No. 18 Oklahoma.Â

• Along with the main mat, exhibition bouts will take place on a second mat. The main mat will be broadcast across the region on the Panther Sports network and online on FloWrestling.org. Flo will also carry a stream of the second mat.Â

• The Panthers jumped into the dual rankings in three polls (Flo, Win, Open Mat) after a win over a ranked team. As a team, the Panthers are ranked 16th in the coaches' poll, 36th in the Track composite, 22nd in Flo and 27th in the Win tournament rankings.Â

• Eight Panthers are ranked in various major polls, Brody Teske and Carter Isley are ranked in every poll and a UNI 133 lb Wrestler is ranked in the top 17 of every major poll with Kyle Biscoglia ranked in three polls and Jack Skudlarczyk ranked in two. Lance Runyon jumped into the top 20 in three polls and Parker Keckeisen is now 13th in the Win Magazine rankings. Triston Lara and Pat Schoenfelder are ranked in The Open Mat and Track Wrestling Top-33.Â

• Oklahoma State brings seven ranked wrestlers into the McLeod Center. Boo Lewallen at 149 and Travis Wittlake at 165 are ranked 4th. Only three Panthers have met wrestlers in the Cowboy lineup. Jack Skudlarczyk leads Reece Witcraft 1-0 in their series history and Carter Isley leads Austin Harris 1-0 in their only bout. Dakota Geer wrestled Keegan Moore in their only meeting.Â

• Brody Teske and Carter Isley are both undefeated on the season. Teske is 5-0 with a 4-0 dual record while Isley is 4-0 with a 3-0 dual record. Both have wins over ranked opponents. Parker Keckeisen is also 5-0 on the year but has just one dual bout on his record, a 21-8 major decision against Oklahoma's Darrien Roberts.Â

• UNI is coming off of an impressive win over Oklahoma in the McLeod Center. The Panther won six of the 10 anther won six of the 10 bouts, picked two major decisions and a pin.Â

•Three wrestlers in the lineup have qualified for nationals, but only transfer Keegan Moore has wrestled in the NCAA Championships. Jack Skudlarczyk and Carter Isley both qualified for the 2020 NCAA Championships before it was canceled.Â

• Four wrestlers from Fort Dodge High School started for the Panthers in three duals. Brody Teske (125), Drew Bennett (141), Triston Lara (149) and Cayd Lara (157) are all in the lineup for UNI, Cayd Lara missed the dual with Oklahoma. It is believed that it is the first time that four wrestlers from the same high school were in the same lineup since 1949 when four Waterloo West wrestlers lined up for Cornell College.

• The Panthers next travel to Dekalb, Illinois to face Northern Illinois on Friday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. in the final trip outside of the state of Iowa for the regular season.Â

•UNI will only leave the state of Iowa twice for road duals. The opening weekend duals in South Dakota and Feb. 5 in a dual against Northern Illinois.

• Home attendance will be allowed at 15% of capacity. Face coverings and social distancing will be mandatory. Fans must sit in their assigned seats.Â
