Softball Drops Two at Northern Colorado Tournament

Greeley, Colo – The Panthers went 0-2 on the First Day of the Northern Colorado Tournament. UNI now sits at 6-12 overall.
Game 1 | Nebraska Omaha 6, Northern Iowa 1
Senior Ashley Chesser went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the UNI Panthers in a 6-1 loss to the Omaha Mavericks on Friday.
Senior Jaclyn Spencer (0-2) started and took the loss in the circle for UNI (6-11).
Offensively, the Panthers were paced by Chesser, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a double and an RBI. Sophomore Hannah Kelley compiled a standout day at the plate as well, going 2-for-4 with a double. Senior Tianna Drahn also helped out for UNI, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double.
The Panthers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring in the first inning. UNI got on the board thanks to Chesser's RBI double with one out. The Panthers were unable to hold the lead, as Omaha scored six times over the remaining six innings to grab the 6-1 win.

Sophomore Erica Oler (1-3) got the ball to start for UNI (6-12) and took the loss.
At the plate, the Panthers were paced by Opiola, who went 1-for-1 on the day with a walk.
UNI managed one chance with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position.
The Panthers last got a runner on third in the fifth, when sophomore Kamryn Shaffer made it 60 feet away from scoring with nobody out.
