CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Oler, Heyer, and Chesser help Panthers go 2-0 on day three of the Doc Halverson UNI-Dome Classic.
UNI vs DePaul | W, 7-6
The UNI Panthers needed eight innings to get the job done, but pulled off the 7-6 extra-innings win, walking it off on a single off the bat of senior Jenny Kohl to claim victory over the DePaul Blue Demons Sunday.
Sophomore Erica Oler (2-0) got the win for UNI (2-3). The southpaw went 7.2 innings, giving up four runs, three earned, on nine hits, allowing one walk and striking out one.
At the plate, the Panthers were led by senior Sammey Bunch, who went 1-for-4 on the day with a home run and three RBIs. Kohl compiled a noteworthy performance as well, going 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Senior Ashley Chesser also chipped in for UNI, adding two RBIs.
The Panthers were trailing 5-0 in the sixth inning when they first put runs on the board. Northern Iowa's offense started clicking and put up five runs, including a three-run home run off the bat of Bunch.
DePaul then broke the tied and took a 6-5 lead before UNI scored two runs in the bottom half of the eighth to grab the win, walking it off on an RBI single off the bat of Jenny Kohl.

Senior Ashley Chesser put together an outstanding outing at the plate Sunday, hitting two home runs to help power the UNI Panthers past the South Dakota Coyotes 9-4.
Freshman Samantha Heyer (1-2) started in the circle and picked up the win for UNI (3-3). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up four runs, all of them earned, on seven hits, allowing two walks and striking out eight.
Chesser went 2-for-2 at the plate, supplementing her two home runs with three RBIs. Sophomore Hannah Kelley added to Chesser's powerful performance by going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs. Senior Jenny Kohl also chipped in for the Panthers, going 2-for-3.
The Panthers scored in six different innings on the way to victory. UNI broke a 2-2 tie and took the lead for good at 4-2 in the second inning the Panthers picked up their two spot on Kelley's two-run homer.
