Panther Women Picked Third, Rucker Named Preseason All-MVC

ST. LOUIS – UNI women's basketball was picked third in the Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll and senior guard Karli Rucker was selected to the preseason All-MVC team released Tuesday by the league.
Rucker enters the season on track to finish in the top-10 for UNI career points and assists. She currently has 1,030 points and 287 assists. She has a career field goal percentage of .423 and a three-point percentage of .379.
She scored 495 points her sophomore season and 398 in the shortened junior campaign. She earned All-Conference honors each of the last two seasons.
As a team, UNI was picked third behind Missouri State and Bradley. Missouri State received 33 first-place votes and Bradley received 7. The Panthers finished ahead of Drake, Illinois State, Southern Illinois and Valparaiso. Loyola, Indiana State and Evansville rounded out the poll.
UNI returns four starters and its top-five scorers off of a stellar 2019-20 team. Along with Rucker, the Panthers return Megan Maahs who earned All-Conference honors as a sophomore and honorable-mention nod last season. The Panthers defeated three Power-Five schools for the first time in program and history and rolled up wins over Iowa, Iowa State and Drake for the first time ever in one season.
Coach Tanya Warren enters her 14th season as the winningest coach in program history. She has a career record of 243-177. The Panthers have been .500 or better in each of the last 12 seasons and finished with at least 17 wins each of the last 11 years.
