
Panther Football Hosts Idaho State Saturday

• Panther Football continues through the non-conference slate with the second home game of the season. The Panthers host Idaho State for the first time since the early 90s when the two teams played a home and home series. UNI won the two games by a combined 93-21.
•The Panthers defeated Southern Utah 34-14 on Sept. 7 in the UNI-dome behind a strong performance from redshirt freshman quarterback Will McElvain. The first-year starter went 17-25 for 262 yards and three touchdowns to three different receivers. He also ran for 17 yards on eight carries. Trevor Allen carried the ball 17 times for 86 yards. For the season, McElvain is 42-67 for 490 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions.
• The win over Southern Utah was Head coach Mark Farley's 150th career victory. He is the winningest coach in UNI and Missouri Valley Football History and the 10th coach in FCS history with 150 FCS victories.
• Preseason All-American Xavior Williams has been outstanding so far this season. He is currently ranked fourth in the FCS and first the MVFC for passes defended at 2.0 per game and his 53-yard fumble return for a touchdown against Iowa State is the longest fumble return TD in school history.
• Deion McShane tallied team-high eight catches against Southern Utah, a new career-high. McShane and Isaiah Weston both surpassed the 100-yard receiving mark. McShane notched eight catches for 110 yards and a TD while Weston tallied five catches for 105 yards and a score. Jaylin James had two catches for 33 yards and a TD.
• The Panthers have six touchdowns so far this season and a freshman was involved in every single TD. Redshirt freshman quarterback Will McElvain has five TD passes to his name and UNI's lone rushing TD came from true freshman Nick McCabe.
• After being named the STATS FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week in week one, Matthew Cook hit another pair of field goals against Southern Utah to move to 6-6 on the season. He is also 6-6 in PATs for a team-high 24 points.
• Saturday is the annual Hall of Fame Game. Seven individuals are set to be inducted, including Panther football great Eddie Berlin.
