UNI Softball Wins First Game of Fall Season

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa- The UNI Panthers won the first game of the fall season over the Kirkwood Eagles by a score of 11-7.Â

Samantha Heyer started in the circle for the Panthers and pitched four innings. Heyer gave up one run in the first inning and one in the second. Four different Panthers entered to pitch. Erica Oler, Jaclyn Spencer, Hannah Kelley, and Madison Parks also appeared in the circle.Â
On offense, the Panthers scored 11 runs on 12 hits. The majority of the runs came in the second inning where the bases were loaded with no outs. Hits by Jenny Kohl, Sammey Bunch, and Emma Valainis produced four of the seven runs.Â
The other runs in that inning came from Erica Oler drawing a walk, Madison Parks getting hit by a pitch, and an RBI by Adara Opiola.
The Panthers went on to score two more runs in the fifth, one in the eighth, and one in the tenth. Â
