Softball Signs Cheyenne Andersen

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI softball program added the eighth member of its recruiting class on Wednesday, adding Iowa Central Community College standout Cheyenne Andersen.
Cheyenne earned all-conference honors playing for head coach Stacy Evans at Indianola High School before signing with the Trojans. Cheyenne spent the last two seasons at Iowa Central Community College playing for head coach Rick Sandquist. The Trojans finished the 2019 season 40-17 with a 16-11 record in the ICCAC.
Cheyenne earned First Team All-Region honors as a sophomore, finishing the season with a .411 batting average, .893 slugging percentage and a .411 on base percentage. She recorded 81 hits, 68 RBIs and 24 home runs as a sophomore. Playing predominantly in the outfield, Cheyenne recorded 62 putouts and a .970 fielding percentage.
"Cheyenne has developed her game the last two years under Coach Rick Sandquist at Iowa Central," said head coach Ryan Jacobs. "She has shown tremendous growth in her power at the plate, especially this season. She does a great job playing defense in the outfield. She will be a great addition to our team and add some great collegiate experience."
