Foster, Holtz, Rucker, Bunch Named March Student-Athletes of the Month

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Drew Foster, Isacc Holtz, Karlie Rucker, and Sammey Bunch were named the student-athletes of the month for their performances in the month of March.
Drew Foster become the first national champion since 2000 after defeating Max Dean of Cornell 6-4 in the final to cap off his senior season. He went 8-0 in the month of March, winning his second Big 12 Championship and an NCAA Title. Drew went 3-0 in the Big 12 Championships, defeating Zach Carlson of South Dakota State 11-3 in the opening round then defeated Oklahoma State's Dakota Geer 6-3 to advance to the finals. Drew defeated #11 SM Colbray of Iowa State to earn his second Big 12 Title at 184 pounds. Drew started the NCAA Tournament with a 10-0 major decision and carried that momentum to the championship match.
Drew is an Elementary and Middle Level Education double major, receiving All-Academic Big 12 honors. Drew has also been a multi semester member of the Athletic Directors Honor Roll.
Isaac Holtz battled brutal weather at the Drake Jim Duncan Invitational to win the discus, the hammer and finish sixth in the javelin. He won the discus with a throw of 172-feet-5. In the hammer throw on a wet surface, he took the gold with a throw of 173-feet-7, the mark is currently ranked eighth in the MVC. He also took sixth in the javelin with a throw of 142-feet-3.
Issac is a Movement and Exercise Science major with a Biology minor, He has been a multi semester member of the Athletic Directors Honor Roll and Deans List. Issac has also won the Presidents council Academic Excellence Award.
Karli Rucker averaged 17.4 points, 3.6 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game in March to lead the Panthers to the MVC semifinals and back to the WNIT. She scored 15 or more points in five of the seven games in March. She scored a career-high 28 points against Southern Illinois and put up 26 points against Minnesota in the WNIT first round. She was named to the MVC All-Tournament team and first-team all-MVC.
Karli is Elementry Education major and has been a multi semester member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
Sammey Bunch dominated opponents in the month of March, recording 26 hits on 57 at bats. The decorated short stop recorded 22 RBIs and seven home runs in 17 games. Sammey went 3-4 at the plate against Illinois to open the month, crossing the plate two times and batting in a pair of scores. She finished the month going 4-4 at the plate with 4 RBIs against Evansville.
Sammey is a Movement and Exercise Science major with a coaching minor. She is a multi-semester member of the Athletic Directors Honor Roll and has made the Dean's List several times.
